1. Eligibility:
As per UK:A rule 9 (in summary):-
a) Any individual born in Berkshire OR with 9 months' continuous bona fide residence in Berkshire prior to the date of the race (includes HM Forces stationed in Berkshire) AND
b) who has not competed for any other county, or in any other county championships during the competition year.

2. Championship Fees:
Normal race fees apply, there is no extra fee for the championship.

3. Championship Prizes:
Berkshire County AA medals are awarded to the first 3 Championship finishers in each age category: male - under 40, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ and female - under 35, 35-44, 45-54, 55+.

4. Series Trophies:
The top 3 runners in each category of the championship races score 3, 2 & 1 point respectively towards the series trophy. The highest scoring runner in each age category will receive a trophy at the end of the season. In the event of a draw, non-scoring performances in the 4 Championship events will be considered.

5. Championship Entry:
Entry methods / medal presentations vary to accommodate organisers preferences.
See the fixtures page for dates and 'Entering Berkshire Championship Road Races' for information on registering entries.

6. Use of Details:
Race number, name, age on race day and eligibility will be used to determine medal winners. Club details will be displayed in the results section, and where medals are sent out after race day, may be sent to club chairmen/secretaries for onward presentation where several medal winners are from the same club. Your e-mail address will be used as a means to contact you after race day if we need to send you your medal. Your data will not be sold to other parties or used for any form of marketing. The only other likely use of your information would be to e-mail you in the event that we were made aware by race organisers that a specific race had been cancelled for any reason.

7. Helping at a Championship Event:
All events typically welcome assistance with marshalling. Contact the race organisers via their race website (links on the fixtures page). Alternatively, where we have received a specific request for assistance this will be shown with contact details on the News or Fixtures page.

8. Category changes:
Trophy points will be accumulated based on your age category on race day. Unfortunately, this means that some runners may be disadvantaged during a year in which they switch categories, although there is also the outside possibility of winning trophies in 2 categories. In the event that two or more runners are tied for points for a trophy position, then their performance in a second age category will be considered at the organisers discretion to separate the runners, e.g. if runner A has accrued 6 points from 4 MV40-49 races, and runner B has accrued 6 points from 3 MV40-49 races plus 2 points from one under40M race, then runner B will win. However, this is only for a tie-break scenario. If runner B only had 5 points from the 3 MV40-49 races (plus 2 from under40M), then runner A wins

9. Marathon Issues:
The Abingdon Marathon has served the County well in past years as the marathon championships. Unfortunately the 2007 race had to be cancelled due to lack of support in organising the event. In the absence of any other road marathons within the whole of BB&O for the remainder of 2007, it was decided to use the Flora London Marathon (FLM) as the qualifying race. For 2008, we will return to Abingdon. However, if it is cancelled for any reason, then FLM will be used again. Whilst it is acknowledged that not everyone will be successful in obtaining a place for FLM, there were far more Championship entrants in 2007 than at Abingdon 2006, and the majority of medallists from 2007 achieved Good for Age times that will guarantee a place for next year. NOTE: Even if Abingdon is cancelled AFTER the FLM, only those entrants registered PRIOR to FLM will be included in the results.
See 'Entering Berkshire Championship Road Races' for information on registering entries.
