2018 Road Running Awards

Many thanks to all the road runners who made it along to the AGM last night. Its been a great year, with 151 local runners entering the Championships this year and with 128 medals and 8 Trophys spread amongst 49 runners across 10 different clubs, lots to celebrate.

For those that didn't make it, the Trophys (for most points awarded across all 4 races) went to:

MSEN Rob Corney (Reading Roadrunners)

M40 Tom Easten (Maidenhead AC)

M50 Wayne Lillis (Newbury AC)

Yasmin Grosvenor (BAC) UK Sportshall Ambassador

Yasmin Grosvenor (Bracknell AC) appointed UK Sportshall Ambassador

Following her success winning the U15 Girls championships at the 2018 National Sportshall Final in Manchester congratulations to Yasmin Grosvenor (Bracknell AC) on her appointment as a UK Sportshall Ambassador for 2018 -19. 

Yasmin becomes only the 28th person ever to hold that title, alongside the likes of Kelly Sotherton (Heptathlon Olympic bronze medal 2008)and Morgan Lake (formerly of Slough Junior AC; Junior world champion Heptathlon and high jump 2014; Commonwealth games silver medal 2018).

Sportshall Match 1

The new Sportshall season got off to a fantastic start yesterday with just under 300 young athletes representing clubs and schools from across the county met at TVAC for the first round of the 2018 -19 league. We were particularly excited to welcome the athletes from ACS Egham International School joining the league for the first time.

Southern InterCounties 10K

STOP PRESS: Exciting Opportunity to represent Berkshire County in Road Running.

Sussex County AA is introducing an inter counties representative match at the Brighton 10K, November 18th. https://thebrighton10k.com/

A Berkshire team will be selected and will compete against teams from at least 8 other Southern Counties. Each county will field a team of 8 athletes (4M and 4F) and this is open to ALL U20, Senior and Vet category runners (Must be at least 17 on race day).

Regional Sportshall Final

Surrey Sports Park Guildford

A packed Surrey Sports Park arena saw two very tense and exciting U11 South Regionals finals on Saturday 10th February. Berkshire arrived with strong teams in both the boy’s and girl’s competitions, selected based on performances across the county league and county championship events held at TVAC in the autumn and earlier in the year.

Both teams started very well with solid performances in the obstacle relay and it soon became apparent our main rivals would be Surrey and Kent.

The races chosen for this Years Championship are as follows:

Wokingham Half Marathon,  Sunday February 18th 

Maidenhead Easter 10 miles, Friday March 30th (Good Friday)

Woodley 10K, Sunday April 15th 2018

Marlow 5 miles, Sunday May 13th 2018

 

Championship results from these races will be available here as soon as possibles after each race.

As a new approach the races chosen will change each year, just to make things a bit more interesting.

We are currently doing well with entries, however remember that you must have your entry e-mailed in the DAY BEFORE the first race in the series you wish to be considered for.

The e-mailed entries as of 10pm today (10-02-2018) are shown in the attachment. If you see a discrepancy with (i) the correct spelling of your name, (ii) your club or (iii) the age category, determined as age on 18-02-2018 ....please let me know ASAP 

If you are expecting to see your name on this list and it isn't there, also e-mail me as you are not currently registered !
